Konecny Prairie Natural Area Prairie County, is the largest block of high-quality tallgrass prairie left in the Grand Prairie of eastern Arkansas (Mississippi Alluvial Plain). Konecny Prairie is dominated by big bluestem, little bluestem, switchgrass, and Indian grass. Forb diversity is high with such plant species as compass plant, prairie gayfeather, blazing star, American aloe, and black-eyed susan being common. Prior to settlement, the Grand Prairie ecosystem covered approximately 900,000-acres, with 320,000-acres of that total consisting of prairie. At present, less than 1% of the prairies that occurred across the Grand Prairie remain. A private landowner holds fee title to a portion of the natural area.

Hunting is prohibited on this natural area.

Directions
From Hazen, travel south on U.S. Highway 63 (old State Highway 11) for 10 miles to its junction with State Highway 86. Turn right on State Highway 86 and travel for 1 mile. Turn left onto a gravel road and travel 1 mile. Turn right onto a farm road. Prairie lies at end of the farm road.
