National Bobwhite Conservation Initiative Updated:03/2021

An effort by 25 state wildlife agencies and others, NBCI is the most comprehensive interstate effort on behalf of a resident game bird in the history of wildlife management.
NBCI includes

  • an updated analysis and status report on quail and quail management, management opportunities, challenges and constraints,
  • a massive online database assessing 600 million acres over 25 states for bobwhite habitat potential, and
  • a staff of five specialists working at the range-wide/national level to assist the states in meeting their respective bobwhite populations goals.
